What happening?
The resurgent Chiefs. Flush with confidence after beating the Steelers on Sunday, the Chiefs come to San Diego an apparently different team than they were when the Chargers beat them 37-7 in Kansas City last month. They scored a season-high 27 points against the Steelers, had four interceptions the past two weeks (beating the Raiders on Nov. 15) and have found a way to win.
The surging Chargers. Five straight victories have brought the Chargers' swagger back, and they're fun to watch when they're playing this way. They get up early, fly around on defense, and their efficiency on offense flows with Philip Rivers able to move the ball among his numerous weapons. And they have plenty of players who aren't shy about enjoying their success on the field.
Chris Chambers' return. The veteran receiver was in San Diego for just two years but made an impression and was released under dubious circumstances. The Chargers felt Chambers' ongoing relationship with a woman and the distraction it caused had affected his play. Chambers is coming off a 119-yard game against the Steelers and in three games with the Chiefs has 10 catches for 249 yards and two touchdowns. He had nine receptions for 122 yards in seven games with the Chargers this year.
