What happening?
Even if the Redskins are foundering, and the Eagles are still trying to find their identity more than halfway through the season, the annual clashes between these NFC East rivals are usually white-knuckled showdowns that aren't decided until the fourth quarter.
The Eagles (6-3) beat the Redskins, 27-17, last month at FedEx Field and hope to sweep the season series, returning the favor after Washington handed them two losses last season, and stay competitive in the race of the division title. The Redskins (3-7) are ravaged by injuries and entrenched in turmoil, but their fourth-ranked defense keeps them competitive in every game.
Many of the usual suspects from this rivalry won't be on the field. Injuries to Clinton Portis, Chris Cooley and Ladell Betts leave an already inept offense without three of its top playmakers. Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is nursing an ankle injury that could also sideline him for the game. For the Eagles, running back Brian Westbrook and Kevin Curtis are still out, and there's doubt about weak-side linebacker Akeem Jordan making it back from a knee injury.
