Most adults avoid getting braces on their teeth because they can be unsightly and uncomfortable. Holistic dentists have avoided traditional metal braces because of toxicity and electro galvanism issues. Dr. James Rota, a Los Angeles area biological dentist, will be speaking at a free seminar on December 9, at 6:30 pm, about dental materials, toxicity, detoxification, plus the importance of straight teeth.
According to an epidemiological study done by the National Center for Health Statistics, NCHS, 75% of people in the United States need their teeth straightened. In the past, health conscious dental patients have had to weigh the detriments of metal braces against doing nothing and suffering the aesthetic and health consequences of misaligned teeth.
“When teeth are misaligned, even slightly, they become susceptible to trauma because they are not coming together the way they are supposed to. This trauma leads to erosion of the tissue and damage to the teeth,” says Dr. James Rota. “The electro galvanism created by the dissimilar metals of the fillings of the teeth and the metal braces disturbs the delicate balance of the electro neurological systems of the body.” Dr. Rota also states that there are toxicity issues with the metal alloys in the traditional stainless steel braces.
In recent years, developments in teeth straightening have resulted in the emergence of companies like Align Technology, Inc., offering more desirable options with clear braces. This development caught the attention of holistic and biological dentists concerned with possible toxic effects of traditional orthodontia.
Invisalign® is an aesthetic orthodontic treatment developed for teens and adults. It consists of a series of clear custom made removable aligners that will gradually shift your teeth into desired position. The aligners are virtually invisible, comfortable and removable. You can brush and floss regularly. For more information about this technology, visit http://www.Invisalign-
The material used in the aligners and retainers has been tested and shown to be bio-compatible. They do not contain Bisphenol-A nor phathalate plasticizers. Invisalign®
