Mobile Phones: iPhone 3GS Secured by Tesco Mobile Operator

It appears that the iPhone 3GS will become the most common smartphone of 2010 as yet another mobile service provider has unveiled plans to sell the Apple device. Tesco Mobile is the latest to grab the opportunity to boost its client base by revealing a pre-registration page for consumers to sign up and receive their handset in the lead-up to the Christmas period.

Tesco Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator that is run on the O2 network. Tesco is famed for providing text and call bundles that have been attractive to the pay-as-you-go market; however it will be interesting to see what kind of deals they engineer for their latest premier handset.

The iPhone 3GS will be available on Tesco Mobile on a pay-as-you-go and pay-monthly basis, which may attract users who do not wish to enter into a contractual agreement, using their smartphone as and when they please. Although not as advertised as many other mobile phone networks, Tesco Mobile was recently voted as the number one network for customer satisfaction by Which? Magazine in early 2009.

Tesco Mobile is not the first provider to secure the iPhone (http://www.foneshop.com/apple/iphone) and iPhone 3GS (http://www.foneshop.com/apple/iphone-3gs) on its shelves. Orange has begun to sell them after securing an agreement with Apple; meanwhile Vodafone plans to release the devices across its network in the first quarter of 2010. Since O2 lost exclusivity rights of all Apple mobile phones (http://www.foneshop.com/apple) there has been a mad scramble from providers desperate to boost profits with one of the most in-demand smartphones on the market.

The arrival of a low-end competitor in the shape of Tesco Mobile could see prices drop between competitors, Orange and Vodafone in the coming months.
