UK Stairlifts supporting the Mobility Advice Line

Nov. 26, 2009 - PRLog -- UK Stairlifts has recently lent its support to the charity Mobility Advice Line, to help further their aim of offering free, impartial confidential advice and information to disabled people on mobility related issues.

The Mobility Advice Line (MAL for short) was founded in 1993 by Andy Whyment, an ex-policeman and wheelchair user. Andy had found it difficult to get information relevant to wheelchair users on subjects such as access, motoring and adaptations – so he decided to set up the Mobility Advice Line.

Sadly, Andy passed away in 1996 but the Mobility Advice Line has continued to operate, offering free advice to callers, now under the leadership of Bryn Tudor.  Bryn has been involved with charity work for many years and is committed to the continued success of the MAL.

MAL aims to offer advice to disabled people, their families, carers and friends on a range of subjects, not just those related to mobility and access.  If the operators at the MAL don’t have the answers, then they will find someone who can.  Home visits can also be arranged and members of the MAL team will visit people in their home to discuss any issues they have.

MAL is based in Edgbaston, Birmingham and its services are primarily used by residents in the Midlands area, but calls are received from all over England, Wales and Scotland.  The MAL will always try to answer any questions they receive, offer advice or just chat to the callers.

MAL is available from 11am until 3pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday on 0121 454 2331.
