The Community Health Initiative (CHI), a mail-order pharmaceutical supply company based in Nashville, TN, has developed a new free program called the Health & Spirit Education Network to help eradicate health disparities in the African-American community with the help of the faith-based community.
The Health & Spirit Program is an online resource center for clergy and church leadership. Upon receiving access, they can download hundreds of health-related pamphlets, post their own health-related church events, find more information on health related scriptures, download information on setting up a health ministry, download teaching tools for health educators within a ministry, coordinate with other churches nationwide on their health efforts, and contact CHI about health fairs.
“The faith-based community is the perfect niche to start this new program. We trust our church leadership, and we follow their direction. So, we are now using that relationship to give people a fighting chance to combat some of our real killers,” said Chairman and CEO of the Community Health Initiative, Readus C. Smith, III.
Registration and usage of the Health & Spirit Education Network is free and can be done on the Community Health Initiative web site. For more information, contact Debbie Leight at 1-800-805-7134 or visit www.communityhealthinitiative.org.
