Atlantic City, NJ—Heavenly Foods, Inc. has announced that its “Sweet Baby Cakes” gluten-free brownie line will again be available in health food stores, specialty food stores and supermarkets beginning this month.
The Oceanville, NJ, company was forced to move its baking facilities to a new location in 2007 after over three years of supplying its product to stores in New Jersey and to direct retail customers through the Internet.
“It was a challenge to find the right facility,” said Jeannie Price, president. “We took the opportunity to identify a co-packer that would not only maintain our quality requirements, but one that would be able to increase production to meet the interest we were getting just before our shut-down.”
The company now has direct sales representatives in New Jersey and in the Baltimore-Washington market and handles orders from other states through its corporate offices in Oceanville.
Production and packaging is now done in southern New Hampshire at a state-of-the-
The initial brownie line at re-launch will be walnut fudge and peanut butter fudge with other flavors being re-introduced during the next several months.
“It’s been frustrating being on the sidelines during the last two years of market growth, but we’re are now in a great position to re-gain our share of the gluten-free as well as the specialty and gourmet snack markets,” stated Price.
The company originated as Sweet Baby Cakes in 2003 and was purchased by Heavenly Foods in 2005. Brownie products continue to be marketed under the Sweet Baby Cakes brand. Other related baked goods will be marketed in 2010.
