Busch Systems has recently taken a stand toward the reduction of poverty in Ethiopia. The company has teamed up with CHF, founded as Canadian Hunger Foundation, to donate over $9,500 toward the pursuit for sustainable living in impoverished countries.

Busch Systems, the North American leader of waste and recycling containers, has become widely recognized over the past twenty-five years for its investment in charitable and environmental causes. The company has donated thousands of dollars to numerous foundations, including ‘Doctors without Borders’ and the ‘Ontario SPCA’. The company has also set the benchmark for producing more new molded, future friendly containers a year than all other manufacturers combined.

Craig Busch, Chief Executive and President of Busch Systems, chose to invest in CHF’s efforts as “We like to ensure our donations have an impact on poverty globally and feel that dollar for dollar, our contributions are able to make more of an impact on people’s lives and livelihoods through CHF.”

Since 1961 CHF has proven a worthy cause for investment, as a result of its implementation of over eight hundred successful projects in more than forty countries around the world. The specific program which Busch Systems donation went towards is the Ethiopian based Partnership for Food Security, which addresses the overwhelming need for sustainable living. The goal of the partnership is to remove Ethiopian dependency on food aid by applying increased attention to agricultural productivity. These efforts will work to enable the eight -one percent of Ethiopians living below the poverty line to play a very integral, tangible and sustainable role in the establishment and betterment of their own livelihoods.

According to Sharon Cardiff, Manager of Major Gifts & Planned Giving for CHF, as a result of the Ethiopian Partnership for Food Security “Income from annual crops has increased seven fold, while the incomes from livestock, fruit and vegetable production have nearly doubled. This would not be possible without the incredible support of our donors like Busch Systems.”
