New York NY - Jon and Kate Gosselin have been busy fighting out the case of missing money inside and out of the courthouse. Both of them had alleged that the other was responsible for the unilateral withdrawal of large amounts of money from their joint bank account. Kate claims Jon withdrew $230,000 from their joint savings account, leaving her unable to pay her bills. Jon on the other hand, is accusing Kate of taking $100,000 from the same account. In the last hearing in a Pennsylvania court (Montgomery County courthouse in Norristown, Penn), which lasted one hour, Judge Arthur Tilson reportedly asked the couple to work something out amicably. The new hearing was scheduled for October 26th.
Jon has denied the withdrawals were ill-suited and has demanded that his wife give a reason for more than $60,000 in withdrawals of her own. Attorneys for Jon and Kate Gosselin confirmed that Jon has complied with a court order to return money missing from the couple's joint bank account – but Jon says Kate has yet to account for how she spent $33,000 in cash withdrawals. Cheryl Young, one of Kate's attorneys, told Judge Arthur Tilson that the alleged amount accounted for only five percent of the total disputed amount, and that a divorce arbitrator did not require her to break down the cash withdrawals.
It should be recalled that Jon & Kate's attorneys had filed contempt motions against each other because of money missing from a joint bank account. On Oct. 13, Judge Arthur Tilson had instructed Jon to return the $180,000 he took from the account and also advised an itemized detail of other withdrawals to ensure that they were compliant with the divorce arbitrator's guidelines. As Kate continues to do the TLC's show alone, the fight over the missing money is hogging all the limelight for the moment.
Judge Tilson also instructed Jon and Kate to avoid doing any television shows together and to keep their conjugal differences private – for the sake of the children. A court-appointed arbitrator was also attached to resolve the differences amicably – both on the conjugal and the financial front.
