Shanghai Hongqiao Traffic Hub

Hongqiao Traffic Hub will cover airport, expressways, inter-city railway, maglev, urban rail traffic, bus and taxi and other traffic patterns.

To accelerate social and economic development in the Changjiang River Delta and enhance Shanghai’s motivating force to the region, Shanghai Municipal Government proposes to build Hongqiao Traffic Hub.  The project will cover airport, expressways, inter-city railway, maglev, urban rail traffic, bus and taxi and other traffic patterns.

The planning area for the project starts from the outer beltway in the east, extends to the existing outer railway belt in the west, to Beizhai Road and Beiqing Highway in the north and Huqingping Expressway in the south, totaling land occupation of 26.26 km2.

The land for Hongqiao Airport lies in the east of the project.  The stop and yard land for various rail traffic are in the center.  To the west lie the related supporting facilities.  Design scope of the project covers organizing of the external railway traffic, west terminal of Hongqiao Airport, traffic center and maglev station.
