Sarah Tangeman recently received her Masters in Italian Renaissance Art History from Syracuse University in Florence, Italy in 2008 and then worked as an art history teaching assistant in Florence for Syracuse. So it was a natural transition to turn her recent experiences and captured moments into this series that reads as a visual diary of her time spent living abroad. This new series 'Paper Paintings: Doors and Pathways' "explores the concepts of new beginnings, uncertain outcomes and the acceptance of life's journeys." She found expression of these sentiments in the closed doors, hidden stairways and vibrant colors of the cities which she traveled. Through her use of digital photography and paper collage, Sarah is able to communicate complex emotions. In the spirit of "new beginnings and accepting the journeys of life" Sarah has had to also adjust to the adventures of motherhood, having recently given birth to their first child.
