Toronto, Canada -- American director Molly Murphy took the top prize at the Toronto Independent Film Festival for her debut feature film BEYOND ALL REASON, shot for a paltry $8000. The film, telling the story of three sisters taking different approaches to love and life, was the festival's closing night film.
UK director Alan Coltman took the festival's prize for Best Short Film for DRUMHEAD -- an anti-war poem using archived footage from WWII. And Nick Pilton won for Best No-Budget Feature with RESERVATIONS.
Hosted at York University in downtown Toronto over 5 days, the 2009 Toronto Independent Film Festival screened over 60 films. The festival highlights the best in micro-budget filmmaking.
The 2010 Toronto Independent Film Festival will ambitiously run simultaneous to the Toronto Film Festival, with the aim of offering the film lovers gathered in Toronto the opportunity to real some genuine indie flicks.
