ABS-CBN International’
In My Life, which drew capacity crowds at its premieres in Alex Theatre in Glendale and Fox Theatre in Redwood City last September, ended up surpassing Starry Starry Store’s previous 2009 U.S. box-office champions: You Changed My Life and And I Love You So. The film stars present Batangas Province Governor and Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos, her real life son Luis Manzano and RP’s Box-Office King John Lloyd Cruz.
Santos plays Shirley, a public school librarian who wants to be in control of everything. Her unwarranted intervention in the lives of her children and their families leads to their emotional detachment from each other. Feeling she has lost her command over her children, she flies to New York to reunite with his estranged son, Mark (Manzano) only to find out that her son is gay and she has to live with him and his lover, illegal immigrant Noel (Cruz). As Shirley struggles to deal with the situation and with living in the Big Apple, she discovers that being gay is not the only huge secret that Mark is keeping. Discovering what this is will change Shirley’s life forever.
In My Life is directed by Olivia Lamasan (Milan, Sana Maulit Muli and Got 2 Believe) and co-stars Dimples Romana, Vice Ganda, Nikki Valdez, Rafael Rossell, Paw Diaz and Tirso Cruz III. The theme song is sung by RP’s Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo.
Meanwhile, in Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme, critically acclaimed comedienne Eugene Domingo plays Kimmy and Dora, identical twin heiresses who are opposite in character. Kimmy is smart, sexy, ambitious and domineering with an evil streak; Dora is Mother Teresa incarnate in kindness, but is mentally challenged. In what turns out to be a sibling rivalry, the twins battle for the love of their father (Ariel Ureta), the affection of a resident office hunk (Dingdong Dantes) and the control over Go Dong Hae group of companies, the most successful corporation in the land. Throw in a mistaken identity, kidnapping and trading places twist and the result is a laugh-a-minute comedy fest.
Directed by Joyce Bernal (For the First Time, Paano Kita Iibigin and D’Anothers)
