Nov. 24, 2009 - PRLog -- LAS VEGAS -- The Impact Basketball Academy Classic was held this past weekend at the Impact Basketball facility. The three-day event was hosted by Impact Basketball Academy and organized by Rich Marcucci; compliments go to Marcucci for doing a terrific job of organizing the Classic and getting an impressive selection of prep school teams from across the nation to attend. This event was the academy's first major prep school tournament; Impact hopes it will become an annual tradition. Each team invited to the Classic played at least two games, with some of the teams playing up to four games on the weekend.

The teams invited to this showcase included:  Findlay Prep (NV), God’s Academy High School (TX), God’s Academy Post Grad (TX), IMG Academy (FL), IMPACT Academy (FL), IMPACT Prep-Blue (NV), IMPACT Prep-White (NV), Princeton Day Academy (MD), Queen City Prep Academy (NC), RISE Academy (PA), Stoneridge Prep (CA), and Westwind Prep (AZ).

The coaches that were in attendance at this major prep school showcase included:  Eastern Washington, Washington State, Southern Illinois, Barstow College, UNLV, California, Seattle U, Washington, Colorado State, Branch West, Boise State,  Southern Utah, CSU Bakersfield, Las Vegas Prospects, and UCLA.

ESPN.com covered this event and recognized a few standout players on its website, one of them being our very own Aamir Kelliehan.  "Aamir Kelliehan is another unsigned 2010 prospect who should be getting looks. He is an aggressive scorer from the guard position. He has an explosive first step to beat his defender from triple threat or off the dribble. Kelliehan uses his body well to finish in the lane against bigger defenders and is capable of knocking down the 15-foot, pull-up jumper."  Kelliehan averaged 23 points per game as Queen City Prep Academy came out of the tournament 3-1, defeating Impact Academy White, Impact Academy Blue and God's Academy.  Queen City Prep came up short against Princeton Day in a very close match.
