The first ever Music Matters came to a conclusion in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Satisfied members of Derby, Drew Grow and the Pastor's Wives and Wester Daywick rocked and rolled the crowd while raising funds for p:ear.
"The bands were energetic, and everyone put on a great show," said Bessie Brickel, one of the evening's attendees. "I wasn't familiar with all the artists before tonight, but I would love to see more of them in the future.” Evan Polley, another event attendee added, “What really sold me on the night were how authentic the bands and crowd are to Portland. And the drummer for the second band [Drew Grow and the Pastor's Wives] had some pretty funky fresh shoes.”
The sentiments were echoed throughout the crowd, which included dedicated fans of the bands as well as those who had merely come out for a fun night to support p:ear on Portland’s eastside. Guests grooved to bands, had the chance to have their dino-tarot cards read, and enjoyed food provided by HotLips Pizza.
For those schmoozing in the VIP lounge complimentary champagne was provided, along with a keg of red ale donated by Lompoc Brewery. The event was presented by eWorldMedia in conjunction with ApogeeInvent’
eWorldMedia CEO & President Henning Morales was excited by the possibilities the night offered his organization. eWorldMedia, originally based in Los Angeles, was using the event to branch out to Portland area musicians. The eWorld Music Awards, hosted annually in L.A., focus on new and upcoming indie music artists. This was the company’s first foray into the Portland music scene and a smashing success.
