A mixture between ebm(electronic beat music), industrial, and electro-rock, Khemique combines something new with something old with "All In". At an interview, Jason said: "I used to be in bands in the early 90's, but gave up after a while to concentrate on sound and loop productions for Sony. Since those days I made a good name for myself on the international music loop production scene. One day I had an idea. Some newly composed tracks of mine seemed to beg for vocals! So I advertised and found Johann willing and able to take on the challenge."
"Jason sent me 10 tracks", Johann said, "and asked me to write and record lyrics. I went to work and over the next 3 months, developed Jason's tracks into songs with sung and spoken pieces. We worked a bit longer on the sound mixes and mastered the product in October."
Johann Smit is a South African, who has been singing and performing with mostly hard rock and metal bands for 18 years. His former successful band, Arcana XXII (Freiheit Records), broke up in 2005 after 8 years of dedication in South Africa's neighboring country, Namibia(South West Africa). They were the first Namibian rock or metal band who had an international distribution deal and subsequently placed Namibia on the world map, as far as their genre of music was concerned.
Johann has been living in Illinois for over a year now, producing music, video, websites and doing graphic design, all on a freelance basis.
Being from two totally different worlds, yet having the same music tastes, Johann and Jason is an amazing team of collaborated talents.
