Peppermill’s $400 million renovation brought to life with eye-popping new Web site by IdeaWork

Big hotel casino teams with small agency to create an immersive experience that steeps visitors in the property’s new allure

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 23, 2009 -
Reno, Nev. — Reno’s Peppermill Resort Casino just underwent a $400 million renovation in a bid to become more competitive with other properties in Reno and across the U.S. To achieve that goal, they needed a Web site every bit as enticing as the property’s lavish redesign. To engage potential guests, Peppermill retained IdeaWork — an interactive marketing and design company with offices in Las Vegas and Santa Barbara — to create a new site that would showcase the property’s many upgrades. The result is a glittering, immersive site that draws visitors in with lush imagery, original video, and improved navigation — all backed by a custom content management system and a shared vision of how to bring the Peppermill brand to life on the web.

The improved website delivers an enhanced user experience with streamlined information on the resort and upcoming events, 360 degree virtual tours, and key highlights and pictures of the Peppermill’s luxury accommodations, meeting space, casino, and entertainment options. The site runs on IdeaWork’s custom content management system, which empowers Peppermill’s web and marketing teams to easily update and feature new content, promotions and amenities within the cleaner new navigational framework. Shifting the focus to promotions was one of the key strategies that informed the new design.

IdeaWork also produced original videos that targeted user segments by interest. Tabs at the bottom of the site invite visitors to “Win,” “Party,” “Relax,” “Romance,” and “Pamper.” Clicking on each cues a seamless player that runs a custom video featuring sultry models at play. Elements of the video shoot began airing as TV segments on Nov. 5.

“We really raised the bar visually with the new site. New features include page-dominant photography that gives users an amazing new perspective. It really delivers the beauty and size of the property,” comments Rand Baldwin, Director of E-commerce for the Peppermill. “The upgrades significantly improve navigation, include icons that highlight new guest packages and promotions, and feature key elements of the Peppermill — such as the restaurants, EDGE nightclub, and Spa Toscana.”

“The Peppermill’s new upgrades are pretty incredible,” says Jay Schwartz, founder of IdeaWork. “It was our challenge to express, both in moving images and navigable information, what makes these changes alluring to a potential guest. We really enjoyed working with Peppermill on this project and are honored to be part of their success story.”
