Florida State Auction of Unclaimed Cash and Property.

As a part of this state endeavor, regular auctions of unclaimed cash and property is being organized by the state machinery.

 
PRLog - Nov. 23, 2009 - Tampa, Florida - Unclaimed cash and property in Florida touched an all time of $1 billion recently and the state treasury is not leaving any stone unturned in it's effort to reunite this cash and property with their rightful owners. As a part of this state endeavor, regular auctions of unclaimed cash and property is being organized by the state machinery. According to Alex Sink, Chief Financial Officer - “$20 million worth of cash and property were claimed in the month of march. ”. She added "We'll send communications out to people who we think they are the rightful owners of the property, and if they are able to prove they owe the property, it's a simple matter of getting a check in their hands,".

This year, the auction for the unclaimed cash and FL unclaimed property was held on the 23rd  & 24th of October in Fort Lauderdale. Money from the auction went towards the education trust fund, but even if your property was sold you can still make a monetary claim. So, who should attend this auction? If you are on the look out for enchanting antiques, or an exotic piece of jewelry, or if you think there might be some cash or property with its origin in your family roots, then these state run auctions are for you. So, you might find watches, jewelry, coins, currency, stamps, historical items and other miscellaneous articles from abandoned safe deposit boxes during these auctions.  In majority of the cases, the unclaimed cash and  property is never claimed and the state is forced to auction off the goods to create more space in the vault.

The most recent public auction was held October 23 & 24, 2009, in Ft. Lauderdale. The date and location of the next auction have not yet been determined. To receive email notification of the next auction, please email at thomas.egler@myfloridacfo.com.  According to the St. Petersburg Times, $925,550 worth of assorted trinkets, jewelry, and other items were auctioned-off by the State in an auction held annually to make way for new incoming items. The unclaimed money raised from the auction goes into the state’s Public School Fund, but proceeds from sold items can still be claimed by the rightful owners.
