PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 22, 2009 -
Rising Stars Basketball Academy (RSBA) a youth sports program that includes fundamental skills basketball training, high intensity basketball boot camp, youth basketball league, and homework club is accepting new student athletes. The league games and training sessions will take place at Maple Hill Park in Diamond Bar.

“We started Rising Stars Basketball Academy so that we could provide students with an opportunity to play basketball and develop skills they will need to compete at the next level,” RSBA founder Dayna Lee says. “The basketball academy is available to students in grades 5-8 and all skill levels are welcome.”

RSBA founders, Dayna and Victor Lee, are products of the Walnut Valley Unified School District. They attended Maple Hill Elementary, Chaparral Middle School and Diamond Bar High School. Both Lees played basketball at Chaparral and Diamond Bar High School. Dayna also played volleyball and ran track while Victor played football and ran track.  As student athletes at Diamond Bar High School, the founders focused on basketball with great success. Victor graduated in 2007 leading his varsity team to the Sierra league playoffs as leading scorer, “Iron Man,” and MVP. Dayna graduated in 2008 leading her team in scoring and rebounds. Both Lees were selected to represent Diamond Bar High School in Sierra League All Star games.

“I learned a lot playing basketball. Organized sports taught me discipline, focus, and the value of teamwork in addition to many other things,” Victor Lee explained. “As a college student-athlete I excel in the classroom as well as on the court due to the invaluable lessons I received from the many coaches and trainers I’ve had over the years. Rising Stars will allow me to give back into the lives of young student athletes.”

Extra-curricular athletics at the junior high school and high school level is an opportunity to develop and grow in to responsible, disciplined adults with a strong team ethic. Unfortunately, school athletics cannot accommodate all student athletes. This year alone over 50 athletes were cut from the Chaparral Middle School basketball program. RSBA is ready to fill in the gap with high quality training and competition that instills the importance of academics in developing the total package athlete.

Sign ups for the league continue until December 4th. Training sessions are on Friday afternoons, boot camp is on Saturday afternoons and the homework club schedule will be weekly after school. Call Coach Lee at 909-461-5557 to sign up for training and to play in the RSBA league.
