In the press there is allot of negativity surrounding the world of video games, me and my friends were beginning to grow tired of being stereotyped as lazy teenagers and so we came up with the idea of playing video games for a cause.
We told a few friends about it and they liked the idea of raising money for charity by playing video games so from our friend’s advice we set up a website, bought some recording equipment and off we went.
"The Concept"
3 people take it in turns playing video games around the clock via a live stream on the internet, one plays the game, one commentates and keeps the audience entertained while the other one sleeps.
We realised this is something we really enjoyed doing, it felt great raising money for charity, hopefully this can send a message to gamers around the world that you can do something positive and hopefully the trend will catch on and we will have lots of charitable gamers sometime in the future.
Our first marathon was a great success, we received positive feedback from our viewers and this made us want to continue fund raising, I had allot of fun interacting with the people watching.
So from that we have another video game marathon planned for just after Christmas, I can’t wait :-)
