PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 21, 2009 -
In the 80’s, Steve Peck was the youngest music director and DJ in the history of Metro Media Broadcasting, working at WOMC in Detroit.  Steve also worked at WABX prior to leaving radio to form his own point-of-purchase marketing company, In-House Communications.

In 2004, Steve left his company to embark on a philanthropic project that would bring the opportunity of playing baseball to Michigan children with any physical or mental disability.  Steve created The Miracle League of Michigan and raised $400,000 to construct Michigan’s first adaptive baseball field on donated property in Southfield, Michigan.  This project includes a synthetic rubber playing surface allowing players in wheelchairs or walkers the ability to safely play ball in an organized league.  Six years later, the league serves 400 children and adults from across the state. http://www.MichiganMiracle.org.

Now, Peck has a new philanthropic cause and is revisiting his radio roots in an effort to help others deal with the pain of divorce.  Steve created Divorce Source Radio after his marriage of 23 years began to crumble and he found himself going through a divorce.  “I’ve been through the loss of loved ones who have passed on, but dealing with the grief of a divorce can be even more painful.  You are thrown into a situation of losing a spouse, children, and your lifestyle all at the same time.  Add to this that you must confront the situation in a legal setting of lawyers and judges, and your life is turned upside down and you don’t know who to turn to for reliable advice.”

Divorce is a complex process.  There are complex legal issues, complex emotional problems to resolve, and, above all, complex and important parenting concerns.  Being informed, helping yourself, protecting your children, and recovering from the hurt, anger and stress that comes with the breakdown of a marriage--all of these are addressed directly in “on-air” conversations with legal and mental health experts who have helped hundreds of clients through the process of divorce.

“I made so many mistakes in the beginning that cost me thousands of dollars and even more grief.  In this tough economy, many people don’t have the resources to pay for counseling or legal advice.  I wanted to find a way to provide the best free legal advice and counseling so that others wouldn’t have to go the same path as me,” said Peck.

Divorce Source Radio produces sixty-minute programs featuring both legal and emotional advice from two of Michigan’s most respected professionals.  Bloomfield Hills attorney Henry Gornbein is DSR’s Legal Correspondent, and Psychologist Dr. Larry Friedberg, of Franklin Village, is DSR’s resident therapist.  “These are two of the brightest minds in their field,” says Peck, “and their input is helping thousands of listeners each week deal with their divorce.”

Dr. Larry Friedberg says, “Divorce Source Radio is a serious attempt to get quality information to people who need it.  I am proud to be part of this effort.”  DivorceSourceRadio.com is extremely valuable because it covers many key issues involving divorce and child custody in a user-friendly manner that is easy for a lay person to understand.  It also covers these issues in depth, said attorney, Henry Gornbein.

“The ultimate goal of DSR would be to reach a couple considering divorce, help them to understand how challenging this process will be, and hope they might consider counseling first as a means of saving their marriage and family.   If they have chosen divorce, my goal is to help them understand the complex process so they can make educated decisions based on trustworthy  information in order to proceed wisely and minimize damage to their family that can last a lifetime.  Couples need to take the anger out of the process, step back, and think this through before rushing to divorce, only to find themselves in a second or third marriage facing the same problems all over again,” says Peck.

Divorce Source Radio’s FREE weekly streaming podcasts are listened to by thousands of individuals through iTunes or on http://www.DivorceSourceRadio.com.

Listener Comments: Tim from Kentucky: “Your advice and help is priceless, thank you so very much.  It's so good to know someone understands me and my current situation and that I'm not alone.”  Linda from California: “I checked out your web site and am looking forward to hearing from the psychologist to hopefully gain more insight into the "emotional stress" divorce has on kids. I have one daughter 16 and a son 10 and both are in therapy.  I appreciate the questions you ask and find the programs informative.”  Leslie from Texas: “Thank you so much for your guest's attention to the questions I had.  I found the information to be quite helpful; I sincerely hope it will give my sister the ‘oomph’ she needs to get things accomplished.”
