Nov. 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA–Greenpeace and Women for Women International are the two newest organizations to benefit from Rebagz’ new “Statement Makers” Eco-Chic Handbag line. The company’s CEO and Head Designer Marty Stevens-Heebner, who is committed to having the company be as human-friendly as it is eco-friendly, has added four new eco-chic styles to the “Statement Makers” collection.

“I love that I can integrate our company’s mission and my own personal mission into the visual design of our ‘Statement Makers,’” says Stevens-Heebner. “From a distance, they’re a fashion statement, but up close, the statement becomes more personal. We think our bags are a subtle and cheeky-chic way to let people know where you stand. We want our ‘Statement Makers’ to be a counterpoint to all the nasty, noisy nonsense out there in the public dialogue.”  All Rebagz handbags are made using recycled materials, and according to a study conducted by Green Seal and EnvironMedia four out of five people are still buying green products and services despite the battered economy.

Rebagz created the “Panda Love” and “Polar Bear Love” bags to salute Greenpeace for its more than 35 years of diligent work exposing threats to the environment and finding solutions.  The bags feature a whimsical black and white checkerboard pattern of the panda (an endangered species) and polar bear (a threatened species) in fun and roomy styles that are made using recycled paper and recycled PET plastic for the straps.

The “Peace Out Loud” and “Peace Out Cool” handbags benefit Women for Women International, an organization dedicated to helping women survivors from conflict zones around the world rebuild their lives. Fashionistas and humanitarians alike can spread their own message of peace with colorful designs featuring large polka dots with a peace sign inside each dot.

Rebagz will donate 5% of wholesale sales and 10% of online retail sales to each of the groups the company supports of the handbags dedicated to each respective organization. This includes the “Nipple Bag,” which was launched in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and benefits the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. Rebagz also donates $1 per order to Global Exchange, an international human rights organization Marty worked with in Chiapas, Mexico in the aftermath of the Zapatista Rebellion. “I admire and cherish all these organizations and am thrilled that my designs and business can benefit them.”

The Rebagz Statement Makers line is available in a variety of styles. At www.Rebagz.com, you can learn more about the bags and how to donate to the charities with which Rebagz is affiliated. You can also register on the site to instantly receive 25% off your Rebagz purchase.

About Greenpeace:
Our core values are reflected in our environmental campaign work: We 'bear witness' to environmental destruction in a peaceful, non-violent manner. We use non-violent confrontation to raise the level and quality of public debate. In exposing threats to the environment and finding solutions we have no permanent allies or adversaries. We ensure our financial independence from political or commercial interests. We seek solutions for, and promote open, informed debate about society's environmental choices.

About Women for Women International:
Women for Women International mobilizes women to change their lives through a holistic approach that addresses the unique needs of women in conflict and post-conflict environments. We begin by working with women who may have lost everything in conflict and often have nowhere else to turn. Participation in our one-year program launches women on a journey from victim to survivor to active citizen. We identify services to support graduates of the program as they continue to strive for greater social, economic and political participation in their communities.
