The Sun Movie Club Switchover Under Fire

After The Sun Movie Club closed down earlier this year, we thought we'd heard the last of it but after a small but significant number of complaints choosedvdrental decided to investigate.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 20, 2009 -
Background:

The Sun Movie Club started up in the middle of 2008. The service was powered by OutNow (formerly MyMovieStream) but earlier this year the Sun Movie Club ceased trading and merged with its parent company OutNow.

Helen Storey Choosedvdrental.co.uk staff writer commented:

With a great website, prices from £3.99 per month, and with more than 65,000 titles to choose from, the Sun Movie Club was a solid choice, even though it was slightly overshadowed by the bigger companies, LoveFilm and Blockbuster.

Here at Choose, we’ve had a number of complaints from ex-Sun Movie Club customers recently. One ex-user said they had temporarily cancelled their membership three months ago, but received two DVDs through their letterbox, completely out of the blue.

Others say that they are not even aware that The Sun Movie Club has been merged into the OutNow service, and are wondering why they are still being billed and are unable to log in to the website.

If you’re having problems with the changeover from the Sun Movie Club to OutNow, then you can get in contact by e-mailing customerservice@outnow.co.uk, or you can call them directly for free on 0800 0087 240 (10am-5pm Mon-Fri).

David Morley Director of Sales & Marketing at OutNow responds:

In the lead up to the changeover, we provided clear, prominent messaging on the websites and via various customer communications, especially email. We also set the system to allow the original Sun Movie Club customers to log in via the OutNow site.

The OutNow service boasts a range of additional features and benefits and I’m pleased to confirm that the overwhelming majority of customers who have made contact with us have been highly complimentary and pleased with the changes.
