Microsec Celebrates 30 Years Of Software Innovation

MicroSec is celebrating 30 years in business, a record that consolidates the company’s position as one of the UK’s longest established developers of business process and engineering software.  As an original contemporary of software giant Microsoft, MicroSec has forged a reputation for creating effective software solutions for a wide range of clients including Siemens, Pall Europe, Datacard, De La Rue and BAe.  

MicroSec was founded in 1979 by John Hindmarsh and Vic Russell to provide clients with an independent engineering software design and consultancy resource.  Some of the company’s early projects included a number of world leading developments including one of the first microprocessor-controlled taxi meters and one of the first microprocessor-controlled cash dispenser mechanisms.  MicroSec has also been responsible for developing a training simulator for a new generation of North Sea semi-submersible oil rigs and a range of experiential-based learning and development programmes for the training industry.

“From the start, we have maintained a passion and enthusiasm for creative software design and a commitment to building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients that has enabled us to outlast many of our earlier contemporaries,” stated Vic Russell, MicroSec’s Managing Director.  “MicroSec was one of the first software houses to achieve BS-5750 (now ISO9001) and has been the driving force behind the development of software applications that have had a major impact on people’s daily lives, particularly some of the credit card fraud reduction measures adopted by Datacard.”  

Siemens IT Solutions and Services Ltd. is a typical example of the long-term business relationships developed by MicroSec, having worked closely in partnership with the company for over 18 years.  “MicroSec is a valuable business partner that has worked with us on numerous projects requiring high levels of specialist software design expertise,” commented Colin Lloyd, Business Manager of Siemens IT Solutions and Services Ltd.  “This partnership has enabled us to provide clients, including the National Assembly for Wales and the Registers of Scotland, with innovative and cost effective solutions to streamline key workflow processes and deliver operational improvements.”
