I took a drive along all the major streets through the commercial parts of Lachine (St Joseph, 32nd, Notre Dame, the Market and 45th) last week to see what there is to offer. I wasn't surprised to see some of the island's best restaurants, marinas, and bike trails. I was shocked to discover some rare gems. Lachine has, to it's credit, one of the best aestiticians I have ever been to. She is smooth, thorough and totally inexpensive (totally justifying the drive). Lachine is just like a little town with big offerings. For people looking to relocate, it's just far enough and close enough to downtown to be completely viable and with the current cost of home it's a real steal. The lake is swimmable in the summer and the nicest bike paths make Lachine the rarest of gems on this island.
