Western parts of the UK will be most affected, with gales and heavy rain sweeping in.
Cockermouth in Cumbria has already suffered at the hands of the flooding and a Policeman still remains missing after a bridge collapsed yesterday.
Many people are still trapped in their homes, flowing the flooding and are waiting for the water levels to go down before they can be rescued.
Some people even had to get into the loft areas of their homes to evade the flooding in their homes. RAF helicopters rescued around 50 people and got them to safety and the main high street of Cockermouth was turned into a raging torrent of water, travelling at 25 knots. The devastation to affect this Cumbrian town was at its most 8ft in height.
An eye witness described a woman who refused to walk away from her home, and stood in waterproofs watching as the water engulfed her home.
Flood defences were put in place in 1990 and updated following the floods of 2005. They should have been able to withstand 1 in 100 year flood. The flood that Cumbria felt yesterday was more like 1 in 1000 years, proving that even the best defences can be toppled when there is such heavy rainfall.
Some areas of Scotland received a month’s rainfall in 36 hours, showing the unpredictability of today’s weather.
The cleanup operation is now going to be thwarted by yet more rain and many people will have to wait before they can claim on their insurance and get their lives back to normal. Some people could do even get flood insurance following the flooding of 2005.
The weekend is going to bring with it, more flooding and gales and Monday will bring with it more stories.
