Cycle theft in the UK is a major problem, last year over 440,000 bicycles were stolen of which a large percentage were removed from poorly protected sheds and garages at private residences.
The government has recently invested £100m in schemes aimed at encouraging cycling and recently Bristol has been named England’s first “Cycling City”; the city intends to double the number of cyclists over the next three years with a series of innovations.
As well as Bristol, 11 other towns and cities in England have been designated "cycling demonstration"
In addition the government’s new “Code for Sustainable Homes” which provides a comprehensive measure of the sustainability of new homes allows building companies to obtain important credits if they provide dedicated and secure cycle storage with each development.
This increase of interest and rapid rise in cycle ownership generates its own concerns regarding security and therefore the current need for an affordable system to secure bicycles, especially at home, is high.
Trimetals Ltd (ISO 9001 accredited), who boast a 40 year record of designing and manufacturing metal storage buildings launched Protect a Cycle at last year’s London Cycling Show.
Submitted to the cycling press for independent testing the product has been praised and highly recommended by the UK’s leading cycling magazines with the foremost publication, Mountain Biking UK, rating it simply as a “Superb Product”.
