The recent cancellation of large Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the Plastics Industry Shows from Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center has prompted McPier to create the Task Force to develop a plan for rebuilding the city’s convention business.

While a shrinking convention roster directly impacts his livelihood, Grillo remains optimistic about the future as an industry advocate. “We can choose to actively contribute to the success of our industry, or sit on the sidelines trusting that someone else is in charge of managing it. In this case, we sat on the sidelines for too long and we now realize it’s time to get on the field."
