Beijing, China - Phil Lew, CEO of XBOSoft, recently spoke at the International College of Beihang University in Beijing, China.  The lecture attendees included international students at the university pursuing Master and Doctoral degrees in software development and engineering. Lew's presentation addressed the topic of defining software quality from an end user perspective and in particular, the implications of implementing web applications over the internet using a SaaS business model. "The new ISO 25010 standard on software quality, requires pragmatic implementation strategies, and a thorough understanding of it and how it applies to current software development and business environments is important" explained Lew. "This is especially true for web applications where shifts in user behavior and an increasing emphasis on satisfying the end user now pre-empts previous efforts focused on product quality.  After all, a high quality product has little value if users find the user experience mediocre and go somewhere else (to another software vendor)."

The presentation was part of a series arranged by the International College that aims at highlighting current technical and business issues through first-hand experience of experts in their relative fields. The lecture series has included several professionals from industry and academia speaking on various development technologies, methodologies, tools, and techniques used throughout the software industry. "This venue is an excellent way to enable students to connect their studies to the real world and see how they can use what they learn." Lew commented. "It makes the students more enthusiastic when they can see why they are learning things and how they are applied."

"Feedback from students was positive," reported Associate Dean Weng from the Beihang University International College. "Software touches the lives of our students in every way.  It's important that they get a flavor of what is going on in industry and to counterbalance their technical studies."
