Users and administrators can also search for emails in the archive via a web based "search engine" interface. Cryoserver's search capabilities allow searches within mail messages and attachments, and even allows searching for words that may have been misspelt.

Whilst users are free to search through their own emails, when a search is made by a compliance officer or personnel manager as part of an investigation, the user's ID is logged together with the reason for the investigation being conducted.
