LONDON – August 21, 2009 — Today Careerworms announced the beta launch of Careerworms.com, a web site using crowdsourcing to help job seekers find work faster.

Their cornerstone job seeker product is a personalised IT job search engine that searches all major job boards from a single location. As a result users are saved from manually repeating their job search on individual web sites.
"For too many IT professionals, finding a job online is a repetitive time consuming task," said Hayden Saunders, CEO. "Using Careerworms job seekers can access more vacancies than any other individual job board, to find more relevant jobs in less time."
Finding better jobs, faster
Typically, employers and recruitment agencies advertise vacancies on one or more online job boards. As there are many popular IT job boards in the UK, job seekers must repeat their search on multiple web sites to find suitable roles.
Careerworms has found that, on average, job seekers restrict their search to around two or three job boards. This restriction means users spend a lot of time searching and yet still miss out on suitable roles by restricting their search to just a handful of web sites.
When job seekers use Careerworms they don't need to repeat their search, as the search results for every major job board appear in one place. When an applicant finds a job they wish to apply for, they are directed to the original job board to complete the application.
Crowdsourcing - Capturing the intelligence of the IT community
Unlike other careers websites, the technology behind Careerworms.com uses crowdsourcing to deliver job search results and career advice, and helps users optimise their CV.
Mr Saunders describes crowdsourcing as "a method of capturing and repackaging the combined experiences and intentions of a community, to help solve problems. With Careerworms the crowd is the IT community and the 'problems' are career planning and job hunting."
The job search engine at Careerworms uses crowdsourcing to fine tune search results and recommend jobs that are popular among users with matching skills and aspirations.
Similarly, the CV optimisation tool compares each CV with the CV's of similar users to identify trends and optimisation opportunities. For job hunters who post their CV online, Careerworms ensures their CV is easily found by employers and recruiters.
"Once they've applied for a job, users of our CV optimisation tool know their application will be judged on merit and won't get filtered out of contention because of missing keywords," said Mr Saunders.
Beta Limitations
Careerworms is currently under beta release, meaning they are still making improvements to the site and are looking for feedback from users.
As Careerworms scales from a limited beta to full launch they plan to fine tune the tools to ensure optimum performance as the their user 'crowd' grows in numbers.
