On 1 December 2009, World AIDS Day, Annie Lennox will receive the Freedom of the City of London for her humanitarian work in South Africa and be honoured with a gala dinner and tribute at the Guildhall, London. The African Children’s Choir has been invited to participate in the tribute alongside performers such as Little Boots, La Roux and Brian Eno. The prestigious event has been organized by the British Red Cross and will be compered by the actor, author and presenter Stephen Fry.
The choir has a long standing relationship with Annie Lennox and in August had the privilege of taking part in her memorial stone unveiling ceremony at the City Chambers, Edinburgh. Like Annie, the choir is an ambassador for Nelson Mandela’s 46664 charity.
Mr Ray Barnett, founder and CEO of the African Children's Choir will attend the evening as a guest of the British Red Cross.
