In this episode of the ArtTactic Podcast, we speak with Avi Spira, Director of the NY based art advisory firm Art Ventures International.
Avi breaks down the major Contemporary auctions held last week in New York, beginning with his thoughts on Andy Warhol's "200 One Dollar Bills", which sold at Sotheby's for $43.7 million, more than triple its high estimate of $12 million.
From an overall perspective, Avi tells us what he took away from the auctions in regard to the current state of the overall market as well as how the sales dis compared to insiders' expectations.
Avi also touches on the exceptionally high lots-sold rates, the re-emergence of guarantes and his personal expectations for Art Basel Miami Beach.
ArtTactic Podcast Series
ArtTactic launched its new ArtTactic Podcast series in May 2009 to create a platform where key international art market participants are given the opportunity to discuss their projects, their business, and their views on the art market. The podcasts also provide our listeners with a unique insight into a world which is notoriously difficult to penetrate. Since its inception, ArtTactic Podcasts has produced weekly programmes covering topics as wide-ranging as the art fund industry, to the state of the Chinese art market.
The Podcast programmes are divided into a number of different series, such as the Art Investment Series, Art World Series, Emerging Art Market Series, and the US & European Art Market series.
ArtTactic also provides video podcasts from many of its research reports, with unique analysis and commentary provided by Anders Petterson, founder of ArtTactic.
