Samsung S5560 - Touch Screen With Love-hate Relationship

The glimpse of thin but smart Samsung S5560 makes it go for a love-hate relationship. The love affair comes from added powers of internet access with HSDPA at 7.2 mbps, better camera and video calling. But, the set houses almost similar other features like its older brother Tocco Lite to dampen the enthusiasm.   However, it may have buyers’ choice for comparatively cheaper price.

The display is a 3 inch WQVGA TFT resistive touch screen with 240 x 400 pixel resolution and TouchWiz UI. Accelerometer sensor is present.  This handset has a 5MP autofocus camera of 2592 x 1944 pixels and features smile detection, image stabilisation and blink detection. LED flash is present for taking shots even in insufficient light conditions. Although video shooting is possible with this camera, the set hosts no secondary camera.

Multimedia is supported with MIDP 2.0 Java. The music player is capable of handling MP3/WAV/eAAC+/ H.263/H.264/MP4 formats of music. The users can also organise their music collection according to personal preference; it supports voice memo. Messaging and connectivity equals other touch screen sets in the range. The set features WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML browsing. On messaging front, users are free to be connected through SMS, MMS and emails.

Samsung S5560 has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and is also equipped with Bluetooth                       Yes, v2.1 with A2DP for transferring documents, images and music files. It misses 3G network, which should not be a matter of much concern since due to quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity for its Wi-Fi facility. The 2G network is GSM, working on 850/900/800/1900 bands. Gaming facility on this mobile phone offers additional downloading provision. This speakerphone has stereo FM radio with RDS and 3.5 mm audio jack. Originally copied ringtones on this set are in MP3 and WAV formats. Unfortunately, the shiny black coloured set has no GPS.

Samsung S5560  memory features include Phonebook with capacity of 2000 entries and Photocall.  Internal memory of 78 MB is expandable up to 16GB using microSD (TransFlash) card.
