PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 16, 2009 -
Your phone carrier just discontinuing the version of the cell phone you have. Inevitably, a week later, you drop your phone and it breaks. This means you're faced with two options: Buy a new and different phone or get your current phone fixed.

If you don't really like your current phone, option #1 is the best idea. Your contract is probably up so you can get a new phone for cheap. However, if you really like the phone you have, why switch? You've got all your data stored on the phone, you know the interface, you've learned it's little quirks, and you don't want to have to start over with a new phone. In this case, getting your phone repaired may be a great option.

Let's consider 3 popular phones that have all been discontinued in the past few months: The AT&T Tilt, the T-Mobile Dash, and the T-Mobile Wing. All three of these phones have been in wide usage by business users around the country and none of them is available at your local cell phone dealer anymore.

A very common problem for all three of these phones is a cracked screen. You've dropped it, bumped it against a table corner, sat on it, had your niece throw it against a wall; whatever the reason, you can no longer read emails, text messages, see who is calling you, or do anything else that requires reading the screen. The thing is, it still makes and receives phone calls, the battery charges just fine, and everything else works. If this is the trouble you find yourself in, the phone can be fixed.

"We've fixed hundreds of broken Tilts, Dashes, and Wings for people," says Matt McCormick, owner of Jet City Devices in Seattle. "People have this phone that works great for them and they don't want to start over. So they mail us the phone, we fix it within 24 hours, and mail it back to them. The whole process usually takes less than a week."

So what do you without a phone for a week? The most common thing to do is pull the SIM card out and use it in some old phone you have laying around. Sure, that phone might not have any of the fancy features of your AT&T Tilt or T-Mobile Dash, but it will allow you to get by for a week. After that, you'll have your favorite phone back in your hands and working great.

Jet City Devices repairs the AT&T Tilt screen for $65, the T-Mobile Dash for $55, and the T-Mobile Wing for $70. All of these prices are significantly cheaper than buying a comparable, new phone - even if you sign a new two-year contract to do it. The details for these, and other cell phone repairs, can be found on the Jet City Devices website: http://www.jetcitydevices.com
