The suite consists of an enhanced version of the Vālant Electronic Medical Record (EMR), an ePrescribing module, and an EasyBilling module, for a comprehensive system covering important clinical, administrative, and billing aspects of a psychiatric practice. Since the system is 100% web-based, records can be accessed 24/7 from any web-enabled computer.
While a handful of mental health practice management systems exist in the marketplace, Vālant is the only psychiatry-specific system that is entirely web-based. This allows for more mobility and flexibility than can be offered by an “out of the box” program that requires software installation.

Vālant was created in 2005 by Dr. David Lischner, a privately practicing psychiatrist in Seattle, Washington. After experimenting with EMRs created for general mental health practitioners, Dr. Lischner recognized the need for a web-based, psychiatry-specific EMR. Following the market release of the original Vālant EMR in 2006, Dr. Lischner and his development team listened carefully to customer feedback and continued to enhance the system to address the needs of the psychiatric provider market.
