Chemicals Northwest Awards 2010 - Call for Entries!

Chemicals Northwest are set to celebrate the chemical industry’s success in their 2010 awards.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Nov 16, 2009 – THE 2010 Chemicals Northwest Awards are officially open for entries – and organisers are calling on the region’s £10bn chemical industry to take part.
Building on the success of this year’s inaugural awards, the 2010 awards will showcase the world-class chemical companies in the region and fly the flag for industry in the UK.
Industry body, Chemicals Northwest, today announced the nine categories that will highlight the achievements of the chemical sector in the region and called for entries.

The categories are:

•   Innovation - Product or Process
•   Sustainable Manufacturing
•   Environmental Technology for the Chemical Industry
•   Investor in Training
•   Corporate Social Responsibility
•   International Trade
•   Service Provider
•   Young Achiever in the NW Chemical Sector
•   Chemicals Northwest Company of the Year

They are also holding a special December Chemical Elements event at the Jurys Inn Liverpool on Thursday December 10 for member companies to find out more about the awards.

The chemical industry in the North West is the largest chemical producing area in the country and includes 650 companies which employ more than 50,000 people.
These companies are now invited to participate in the Chemicals Northwest Awards, which will culminate with a prestigious dinner at the Midland Hotel, Manchester on Thursday May 20, 2010.
Dr Jenny Clucas, Chemicals Northwest’s CEO, said: “The chemical sector contributes a staggering £10bn to the Northwest economy.
“This industry deserves recognition and it is great to be able to highlight the expertise that we have here in our region through the Chemicals Northwest Awards.

“We realise that our member companies do not set out to win awards, but adopt new practices and improvements to drive their business forward. However, internal and external recognition for this outstanding work should be acknowledged – particularly given the trading conditions over the last year.

“The Chemicals Northwest Awards continue to be a great way to highlight the region’s strong and diverse chemical industry.”

Widnes-based company, Pentagon Fine Chemicals, scooped the inaugural Company of the Year Award in 2009 for their active promotion of the chemical industry in the region.

Nick Lindop, Pentagon director and general manager, said: "Winning the 2009 Company of the Year Award endorsed Pentagon's commitment to customer service; that we are a business focused on doing what we say we'll do whilst offering cost competitive manufacturing.

“The award win gave our workforce a real feeling of pride and there’s no doubt that we owe our success to our employees and their total engagement in continuous improvement.

“It’s a big deal for us to be able to share this with our staff and see them rewarded for their efforts.”
