San Diego’s Hard Corp to Host Humboldt Roller Derby for Military Appreciation Night at Del Mar Fa

San Diego, CA – November 12, 2009 - Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut film “Whip It,” released to theatres in early October of this year, brought roller derby mania back to the mainstream.

PRLog - Nov. 13, 2009 - Taking it from the big screen to real life, the San Diego Derby Dolls (SDDD) are hosting Humboldt Roller Derby (HRD) Saturday Nov. 21 for some hard hitting roller derby action at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. SDDD’s Hard Corps will face HRD’s Redwood Rollers.

The Hard Corps will arrive in military garb. Anytime Hard Corps puts on their military themed uniforms, they are honoring the men and women of the United States Military, and this night is no different. All US Military personnel with proper identification will receive a discounted $5 ticket at the door.

This is the first season of inter-league play for the Redwood Rollers. They have come out like gang busters, playing a staggering 12 games this season already. “We have had a busy season and it has brought us to this game ready and willing to give San Diego a great show of sportsmanship and talent,” says Elysian Wheels of HRD.

Based out of Humboldt, the Redwood Rollers are used to traveling to play, but this is the furthest they have ventured so far. Elysian Wheels doesn’t see this as any road block to their game saying “If anything we will get plenty of rest in the van on the ride down and be rip-roaring ready to get our skates on by the time we arrive.”

Hard Corps has not played as many inter-league games this season as the Redwood Rollers, but Hard Corps is undefeated in their 2009 season. The Hard Corps’ last game was in April against the Prison City Derby Dames where Hard Corps skated away with the win.

Do the Redwood Rollers have what it takes to disarm the Hard Corps and hand them a loss? Or will the Hard Corps enforce a win over the Redwood Rollers, giving them something to think about on the long drive home?

For details and ticket information please visit www.brownpapertickets.com/event/51987. Cash is needed for Del Mar parking fees, tickets purchased at the door, refreshments and a cash bar.

About the San Diego Derby Dolls (SDDD)
Founded in 2005 upon the attributes of athleticism, integrity and respect, SDDD is proud to be America's Finest Roller Derby league as the nations first hybrid league of both banked track (the inclined surface) and flat track (on the ground) roller derby. Within the league four teams battle for dominance across the state and nation: The Swarm, The Wildfires, Diego Rollers, and Hard Corps. While their uniforms may be stylish and their names are playful, do not be fooled by their appearances: SDDD members are athletes that play unscripted, competitive and full contact roller derby for your viewing pleasure. No one can write this kind of action.
