Dedria Brunett, Miss Teen California International 2010
Luggage of Love is an organization Dedria Brunett started in June of 2008 as a way to provide each child living in shelter and foster care with a suitcase to carry their belongings in. Her goal is to help all children in shelter and foster care throughout California and eventually across the United States.
Dedria Brunett lived in a shelter for abandoned and abused children and had several short visits to foster homes before being adopted. When she left the shelter, all of her belongings were put into white plastic garbage bags. This was not because they did not care, but because of funding issues. So, that is why Dedria started Luggage of Love, as a way to help give back to children like herself who need to feel that their belongings are worthy of a stylish suitcase.
