Send a piece of Ireland Down Under this Christmas with Taste Ireland
Australia’s Irish food product supplier Taste Ireland, has launched its Christmas hamper and stocking gift service. The online company – www.tasteireland.com.au – is now taking orders for the Christmas season, allowing families and friends of people now living in Australia to send them a taste of Ireland this festive season.
For those unable to make a trip back to the northern hemisphere for Christmas, Taste Ireland can bring a piece of home to expats throughout Australia and New Zealand. Products we grew up with are rare treats in the Antipodies, including favourites such as Kimberly Biscuits, Ballymaloe Relish and Club Orange not to mention the cherished Cadbury’s chocolate selection.
For those wishing to make a homemade Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, you can’t make a meal like Mammy’s in Sydney without the Christmas Dinnertime Hamper full of Batchelors peas, Knorr sauce mixes, Colmans sauces, Chivers jellies – and of course Birds Strawberry Trifle. But while Australians might not understand when you mention Dustin, it’s all about the Paxo to complete the turkey!
This year saw record numbers of Irish people granted residential status in Australia, mainly drawn by employment opportunities following the Irish economic downturn. Taste Ireland managing director, Eamon Eastwood said: “We’re constantly adding to our product range from Ireland based on most popular requests, for example the Ballymaloe Relish is going down a treat so we have a new range of great hampers and stockings this year. Business is booming at the moment and we’re expecting massive demand.”
“At Christmas in particular, these hampers save people back home the time, postage and quarantine issues. All you have to do is simply hop online to www.tasteireland.com.au and we can deliver in time for the festive season, it’s much easier than having family back home send care packages which has to deal with quarantine. We also include festive cards with messages and crackers if anyone wants to send a package to friends or family – we do everything short of guaranteeing a White Christmas!” he said.
Final orders taken in time for Christmas delivery are:
Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra & Melbourne Metro: Tuesday 22nd Dec 2009
Perth, Adelaide, All country regional areas: Monday 14th Dec 2009
New Zealand: Thursday 10th Dec 2009
