The 308 page story, centered around the a fictional Kushite-Nubian pharaoh by the name of Amen-rahotep is set during a dynasty of ancient Egypt from the period of 690-664 B.C. when the "black pharaohs" ruled. Author Amina Harrison has written her prodigious novel, using the prefex of "Amen," for her main character who like most Egyptian men of his time, believes that he is a descendent from the sun. Amen-rahotep who will fight as well as love almost up to his very own death, while holding on until the near end of his enormous "Elephantine"

According to Amina, "While I was in the very process of writing THE KINGDOM OF KUSH, I also discovered there has not been too much enlightment concerning the "kushites," especially in regards to their thriving superiority, which I have written with the upmost capacity to write my novel."
