The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Douglas D. Wilson to its National Board of Directors.
Doug Wilson is the President & Chief Operating Officer of Sony of Canada Ltd. Doug is also on the Board of Directors for the Sony Canada Charitable Foundation (SCCF). The SCCF is a non-profit organization devoted to the betterment of children, the environment and the community and has been a “Wish Champion Partner” of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada for over five years.
Through golf tournaments, employee activities and other fundraising programs, Doug and his team at Sony of Canada Ltd. have donated more than $700,000 to help grant more than 200 magical wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Sony is the preferred and exclusive supplier of electronic products for the fulfilment of children’s wishes. Electronics wishes have grown considerably over the last six years, making these wish requests among the top three most popular wishes for children, only surpassed by Disney and travel related wishes.
As President and C.O.O. of Sony Canada, Doug is responsible for the overall performance of the company in the Canadian marketplace, including meeting its fiscal, brand, market share, product and services quality and customer satisfaction objectives. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Economics, from York University. Doug is married with two daughters and resides in Aurora, Ontario.
With his broad business background and his passion for supporting children, Doug is a welcome addition to the Make-A-Wish family in Canada.
