We are pleased to announce that during the APOSM 2009 congress (Asian Prosthetic and Orthotic Scientific Meeting), which took place from 20 to 22 August 2009 at the Polytechnic University of Hong-Kong, Rodin4D, developers of a complete CAD/CAM solution for orthotists and prosthetists, offered 15 licenses for their 3D digital rectification software to the students of the department of "Health Technology and Informatics ".
Orthotists and Prosthetists are specialists in assessing patient’s needs, prescribing, designing and providing patients with custom made devices to enable them to have an improved quality of life. Rodin4D is a leading edge solution for the industry: it allows Orthotists and Prosthetists to design and manufacture devices using a 3D scanner, 3D digital rectification software and a milling machine or robot to produce positive polyurethane moulds ready for the manufacture process.
This Rodin4D offer will allow orthotic and prosthetic students to discover how CAD/CAM can be incorporated into the industry and may encourage companies to use the technology in their daily clinical situations. CAD/CAM for orthotics and prosthetics has existed for many years but as professionals we have been reluctant to embrace the concept. Now that this technology has reached its maturity, it is essential that we incorporate it into our daily routines and offer patients a much improved service combined with reduced manufacturing time and costs.

The Congress also gave Mr Mickael Guimberteau, Rodin4D International Trade Manager the opportunity to present the students and staff of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong with fifteen licences for use in the department. This Rodin4D Education offer is available to all orthotic and prosthetic specialist training establishments. In France, several other establishments benefit from it, as do the secondary schools of Ann Veaute in Castres and Dalembert in Paris which both propose to offer an orthotic and prosthetic diploma course for their students.
