Waterfront Winterland returns to Swansea

The countdown to Christmas has begun! Swansea’s favourite Christmas attraction, Waterfront Winterland returns to the grounds of the National Waterfront Museum on 15 November from 10.00am for a record 7 weeks.

PRLog - Nov. 11, 2009 - This popular Christmas attraction provides a festive landmark in Swansea City Centre and for 2009 visitors can look forward to the return of the Admiral Rink, Santa’s Grotto, the festive funfair and the 44m high Admiral Giant Wheel.  A live entertainment programme is scheduled on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays and specialist and traditional food stalls are perfect to fill the gap.

There’s even more for younger visitors this year with the fantastic addition of Rocky’s Rink – named after Swansea’s safest mascot, Rocky the Road Safety Rooster; a nostalgic Chair–o-Plane ride and an undercover spectator area.  Rocky’s height-o-meter will make sure that only children less than 1.35m can skate on the mini rink.

The 16 page brochure is out now at local venues in and around the City and the event’s website is up and running complete with online booking for ice skating.  Buy your tickets online now or in person from Swansea Tourist Information Centre or by calling 01792 637300 to guarantee your ice skating session and avoid disappointment. Don’t forget that group booking discounts for ice skating are available for parties of 15 or more and are perfect for birthdays and special occasions.

Mrs Sarah Watts from Morriston is looking forward to treating her family to a trip to Waterfront Winterland, “It’s become a tradition in our family to visit Waterfront Winterland after school and my 4 year old son will be excited about trying ice skating on Rocky’s Rink this year.  Santa’s Grotto is always a favourite – the Christmas lists are being written now!”

Councillor Graham Thomas, Cabinet member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism said” Christmas preparations are well underway in Swansea and November 15 promises to be a fantastic start to the festive season with the opening of Waterfront Winterland and the Christmas Parade and Light Switch On all taking place on the same day.”

Don’t forget Waterfront Winterland is giving you a chance to win a fantastic Nintendo DSi – Collect a Christmas bauble postcard during the Christmas Parade and post your entry in the Skate House at Waterfront Winterland.  Entry forms are also available from leisure and cultural venues in Swansea.  Terms and conditions on the website.
