ONE of the most famous poems ever written by Swansea's Dylan Thomas is being celebrated in woollen words.
Over a thousand knitters and crocheters across the world have contributed to turning each letter of In My Craft or Sullen Art into colourful 12-inch squares.
The complete giant poem measures 13 metres by nine metres and will be on display at the Dylan Thomas Centre on Somerset Place for the next week.
Members of the Poetry Society are responsible for the work and put it together to mark their centenary.
Jo Furber, Swansea Council Dylan Thomas Project Officer, said: "“It was very exciting to be part of such a large, collaborative project.
"As curator of the Dylan Thomas Centre’s permanent exhibition, I’m always looking for new ways to present his words and this is a really innovative way of interpreting one of his most famous poems."
Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: "The genius of Dylan Thomas is recognised across the world and his appeal is timeless.
"It's little surprise that the Poetry Society has picked one of his poems to mark their centenary because he's one of the most revered wordsmiths in history.
"The giant knitted poem is a wonderful way to celebrate his work and will prove a popular attraction throughout its stay in Swansea."
The knitted poem has already been on display in London's Southbank Centre and will tour other cities in the UK after leaving Swansea.
It will eventually return to the Dylan Thomas Centre later this year where it will become a permanent part of the exhibition there.
