SAN DIEGO – In an effort to raise awareness of the importance of exercise in the prevention and management of diabetes, VQ ActionCare is hosting a giveaway contest during the month of November in honor of American Diabetes Month. Consumers are invited to write to VQ ActionCare and describe why they or a loved one deserve a Resistance Chair®, the patented, low-impact exercise system designed to help mature adults improve strength, endurance, flexibility and balance.
According to the American Diabetes Association, an estimated 24 million adults and children live with diabetes in the United States, and another 57 million are at risk. Regular aerobic activity has been proven to help individuals maintain a healthy weight, lower blood sugar levels, reduce the risk of heart disease, and improve overall health.
Nearly a quarter of VQ ActionCare customers have diabetes, according to a recent survey conducted by the company’s media director, Andrew Siminoff. “Many of our customers purchase the Resistance Chair® in order to get the physical activity they need to battle diabetes,” Siminoff explained. The Resistance Chair® offers a wide range of exercises from a safe, seated position to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility and endurance, and stave off the effects of many common ailments in addition to diabetes, such as arthritis and obesity. VQ ActionCare will give away a Resistance Chair® (a $239.70 value) to one very deserving person who is at risk or living with diabetes, and who has inspired others or made a difference in his or her community. The winner will be selected by the VQ ActionCare team on or before December 31, 2009. The winner will receive one Resistance Chair® and an instructional DVD to guide him or her through a wide range of stretching and strength exercises.
