“16 To Life”, written and directed by Emmy-nominated, Becky Smith,
will have its North Carolina premiere at the 2009 Asheville Film Festival on Nov. 14th.
The film will screen at 3:30pm at the Fine Arts Theatre - Lower.

The romantic comedy sees Nicholas Downs (Pearl Harbor, Constantine, Is It Just Me?) who plays Bobby, the town’s young Deputy, overextending his authority to get all sorts of attention, particularly from his own mother; Louise, played by Theresa Russell (Black Widow, Spiderman III).
The star of the film, Hallee Hirsh (Grey’s Anatomy, E.R., 90210) is Kate, a rural American teen, who is turning 16 and has never been kissed. She works for Louise, the owner of the Float-On-Inn ice cream stand. All the while Kate and her best friend Darby played by Mandy Musgrave (South of Nowhere) race with time before the clock strikes midnight and will discover more about love than most 16 year-olds can imagine.
This is the first feature film from Emmy-nominated writer/director Becky Smith (Queer
Eye for the Straight Guy). “16 to Life” also stars, Jaime Gomez (Nash Bridges, Training Day), Carson Kressley (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), Shiloh Fernandez (Gossip Girl, The United States of Tara) and Emily Foxler (Deadly Honeymoon, Ghost of Girlfriends Past).
**“16 to Life” premiered nationally at the Los Angeles Method Fest this year, where it
received five nominations and won Best Film (Audience Award) and Best Supporting
Actor (Theresa Russell).
**At the Landlocked Film Festival it won First Place, Best Narrative Feature.
**At the Kansas International Film Festival it won Best Feature Audience Award.
