I have discovered over the past year, that poems about the months and seasons tend to be very northern hemisphere centric, which is fine unless you live in the southern hemisphere, in which case a rhyme such as the following by Sara Coleridge:
“Dull November brings the blast, Then the leaves are whirling fast.” leaves (pun intended) you wondering if you are living on a different planet! Hence,my little attempt to redress the balance, you never know, I might even make a habit of it... On a totally different subject, November signifies the second anniversary of Islandinfo. The time has sped by and I am pleased to report that the magazine is going from strength to strength. Speaking of strength, our Lifestyle article this month features Paul van Frank, a Belgian who has had a significant impact on the world of the hotelier over the past twenty or so years and
whose strength lies in making an economic success of floundering establishments. You can read more on page fourteen. The Rhumerie de Chamarel is our main Discovery feature and if you fancy a very interesting and somewhat unique tour of a rum making factory, set amongst the beautiful scenery of the south west of Mauritius, then this is definitely the place for you. They have a very nice restaurant too! Scuba-doo is back once more and is as fun as ever it was. A delightful experience in a one man yellow submarine awaits those who take the plunge into the balmy blue Indian Ocean. There is far more to do in Mauritius of course, just flick through the magazine and find out for yourself - that's what it is there for!
