On February 1, 2010, Vida Spa, a luxury spa with locations throughout the Pacific Northwest, will begin offering three mineral-themed facials inspired by gold, silver and bronze. Vida Spa bases its treatments on the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda which has incorporated metals, minerals and gems into their system of medicine for centuries. Appealing to every beauty aspiration and budget, the spa is bringing this precious practice back just in time for Vancouver’s winter festivities. The treatments will be available from February 1- 28, 2010, and offered at all five Vida Spa locations – including Vida Spa at The Westin Bayshore Vancouver, the Official International Olympic Committee Hotel for the 2010 Olympic Games.
“Minerals have an incredible affect on our skin and body,” says Vida Spa President Allison Hegedus. “In fact, 99 percent of our bodies are made up of minerals that we lose daily through poor diet and perspiration. These essential trace minerals are necessary for optimal health.”
Gold Metal Facial
Gold is a small, soft mineral that can penetrate deeply into the skin to help brighten, firm and reduce the sign of wrinkles. Royalty throughout the ages have used gold to maintain beauty and youth; Cleopatra was such a believer in its beatifying properties that she bathed in it regularly, and the Elizabethans were known to add edible gold dust to their pomegranates, dates and figs, creating sumptuous, mineral-rich banquets. Now, Vida Spa brings this lavish practice to the masses.
The Gold Metal Facial begins as all Vida Spa facials do: a deep cleanse, exfoliation and extractions remove all skin impurities. Next, a steam treatment furthers the relaxation journey while your face, neck, shoulders and arms are gently massaged. Then, wrinkle-fighting edible 23k gold dust is mixed with a hydrating mask chosen just for your skin. The
nutrient-rich mask coats the skin while you continue to relax and let the minerals work their magic, slowing collagen depletion and preventing the breakdown of elastin. As the gold leaf penetrates further, skin is renewed and nourished. When the mask is removed, a customized application of moisturizer brings closure to this ultra-luxurious experience.
Your skin will look brighter and firmer; wrinkles are less visible. The 90-minute service retails for $225*.
Silver Metal Facial
Silver has been used for centuries for its cooling and healing properties. Also known for its dramatic antimicrobial and antibacterial benefits, silver is helpful in treating many skin conditions including acne, psoriasis, eczema, skin rashes and infections.
Vida Spa’s Silver Metal Facial harnesses the healing and rejuvenating properties of silver leaf to soothe skin and bring out a healthy glow. Following the same luxurious steps of the Gold Metal Facial – including a deep cleanse, exfoliation and extractions – the Silver Metal Facial integrates silver leaf into a hydrating mask. Perfect for those prone to break outs, silver leaf gently calms inflamed skin while clearing the pores of dead skin cells and accumulated impurities. Skin is left feeling calm, refreshed, and protected against breakouts and rashes. A 90-minute service retails for $205*.
Bronze Metal Facial
Even those excited for this winter’s festivities might miss the warmth and glow of the summer sun. But who says you can’t hit snow-packed slopes with a flawless summertime complexion? Vida Spa’s new Bronze Metal Facial imparts a lovely sun-kissed radiance through a powerful exfoliation and bronzer application.
The Bronze Metal Facial starts with a deep cleanse, followed by an exfoliation using all-natural fruit acids and enzymes which gently yet effectively remove dead skin cells. A steam treatment, extractions and a hydrating mask further prep the skin for a cream bronzer perfectly matched to your skin. After enjoying a massage of the face, neck and shoulders, you’ll leave the spa feeling refreshed – and most of all, ready to celebrate winter with a flawless, golden hue. The 90-minute service retails for $175*.
*The Gold Metal Facial at Whistler resort location retails for $245 (90-minute); The Silver Metal Facial at Whistler resort location retails for $225 (90-minute); The Bronze Metal Facial at Whistler resort location retails at $195 (90-minute).
