In this episode, Black Cat Plus Radio will begin with its catwalk segment, with V.P. of Sales and Marketing for the Canadian apparel company, Pure & Co. and Neon Buddha.
Pure & Co has been in business since 1998 with headquarters in Jackson's Point, Ontario, Canada. The collection is designed in Canada and each piece is knit by hand by over 3500 women knitters from Chaing Mai, Thailand. Pure & Co demonstrates a strong sense of environmental and social responsibility by supporting paid health care programs and education for their female work force as well as providing continuing education, including free English classes for the staff as well as providing English classes for their family and friends. The Chaing Mai and Canadian facilities both use solar power to heat the domestic hot water and recycles paper, cardboard, plastic and glass materials within the facilities. Throughout the year any excess yarn is donated to several non-governmental organizations and women's groups where it is used in income generating projects. Pure & Co., along with its sister company, Neon Buddha, donates 1% of all sales to support such causes. To date, almost $250,776 has been donated.
